This talk will highlight the importance of irrigation uniformity evaluations, as non-uniform irrigation can increase nutrient and agrochemical leaching below the root zone, leading to groundwater contamination and degradation of nearby surface waters. In addition, the presentation will demonstrate how irrigation system evaluations support precise irrigation management by ensuring water is applied efficiently and targeted to the crop root zone. Improved irrigation precision reduces excess runoff and deep percolation, conserves water resources, and minimizes negative environmental impacts while maintaining crop productivity.
Speaker: Kevin Greer, Tehama County RCD's Mobile Irrigation Lab.
