The Michigan Chestnut Cost of Production, 2025 report (Bulletin E3538) is now available through Michigan State University Extension. The executive summary describes the major numbers and trends found, while the main body of the report offers more specific details on the costs of production. The report includes information on hand-harvested and machine-harvested approaches. Tables are included in the report that break down the costs and potential revenues based on the different prices and yields that growers might experience.

Michigan State University (MSU) Extension is hosting a webinar Feb. 3, 2026, at 12 p.m. to review the report. We will cover the main results of the study and review the establishment, production and harvest costs found for Michigan orchards. We will also explain how to use the tables to assess breakeven prices and per pound costs for different yields. Register to attend the webinar.

This webinar is part of the Farm Policy and Risk Management series. The webinar will be recorded and published on the MSU Extension Farm Management website so that it can be accessed anytime.
