The History of Tollgate (September-November)
Learn the fascinating history and the roots of rural life of the farm by the mall! The 160 acres of Tollgate Farm has experienced a lot of changes over the years, and we’ll explore the property while keeping an eye out for clues from the past. Discover the wonders of the farm from agriculture to sustainable practices all the while surrounded by the beautiful scenery of Tollgate.
Animal Health (December-January)
Winter presents unique challenges for animals—and the people who care for them. In this immersive, science-based program, participants will explore the fundamentals of animal health and welfare. Combine real-world practices with hands-on learning!
Maple Syrup Production (February-March)
From sap to syrup, explore the full process of maple syrup production in Tollgate’s Sugarbush. Whether you're interested in food systems, forest management, or local agriculture, this program provides a comprehensive look at how maple syrup is made.
Farm Genetics (April-June)
Come to the farm and explore how heredity, breeding, and traits affect agriculture. We’ll extract some DNA, learn about different types of plant propagation, and how to selectively breed our animals for the best outcomes. How does genetics help to improve health, productivity, and sustainability on the farm? Let’s find out!
