COURSE DETAILS
- Instruction: July 18 - 26, 2024 (July 20 & 21 are not scheduled course days)
This seven day course will begin at 9am each weekday of the course. The weekend (July 20 & July 21) is considered "free-time" for all attendees.
Refreshments will be provided during a morning and afternoon break. Each attendee will be responsible for their own breakfast and lunch.

- Course Objectives:
- Describe and identify the general principles and fundamentals (as a minimum requirement) of Active Packaging technologies and the general food categories for which they are used.
- List, describe, and differentiate the various films and gases used in Modified Atmosphere & Active Packaging technologies.
- Understand, critically assess, and articulate the Atmospheric Dynamics of Modified Atmospheric and Mathematical Modelling
- Gain an insight into and understand the modules of Software for MAP.
- List, describe, and differentiate the categories and subcategories of the mechanisms, digital instrumentation, and equipment commonly used in the application of MAP technology.
- Discuss, identify, and communicate the elementary packaging design principles for MAP and Active Packaging.
- List, describe, and gain an insight into the safety risks and hazards of MAP and Active Packaging
- Understand and discuss elements of Layout and Design concepts in a MAP Facility
- Course Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the general principles and fundamentals of Modified Atmosphere and Active Packaging technologies and the general food categories for which they are used.
- Be able to integrate knowledge of films and gases into the functional principles of MAP and Active Packaging.
- Critically analyze and apply the knowledge of atmospheric dynamics and mathematical modelling in the context of MAP.
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability to operate mechanisms, digital instrumentation, and equipment commonly used in the application of MAP technology.
- Understand and actively apply the elementary packaging design principles for MAP and Active Packaging to actual Product Development.
- Understand and be able to apply working knowledge of the for MAP modules to actual Product Development.
- Understand, appreciate, and respect the safety risks and hazards of MAP and Active Packaging to consumers.
- Ability to apply elements of Layout and Design concepts to actual activities in facility and production planning.
