Field Crop Webinar Series Information


Join the MSU Extension Field Crops Team with agriculture experts in this series of eight webinars. The theme for this year: “Two for the Price of One – Conversations in Row Crop Agriculture.” You will learn important information for the coming growing season from TWO presenters each night and have an opportunity to ask questions. Webinars will be archived for later viewing.

Cost is $20 for the entire series or $5 per webinar. One Michigan pesticide recertification (RUP) credit (Core or Field Crops), except for Managing Crops in Variable Climate Conditions (2/2/26) and Interseeding Cover Crops (2/16/26), and one CEU for Certified Crop Advisers will be available for each live event.

2/23/2026 Insect Control: Insecticide Mode of Action - Dr. Chris DiFonzo Discussion on the new Insect Guide which includes thresholds, insecticides and their modes of action and other management decisions
3/2/2026 Hay Production and Weed Control - Dr. Kim Cassida and Dr. Erin Burns Discuss hay management from planting to making decisions on management of hay and potential issue of weed control using herbicides.
3/9/2026 Weed Control - Dr. Christy Sprague Discuss weed control in various crops, including via herbicides.
3/16/2026 No-till Corn - Dr. Brook Wilke and Tyson Robbins Discuss advantages and challenges of planting no-till corn. This includes discussing the management challenges that may be needed to address the issues, including use of pesticides (treated seed etc.)
3/23/2026 Drones: Spray Coverage, Flying Basics, Uses - Dr. John Fulton, The Ohio State University and Dr. Simer Virk, Auburn University Discuss the basics of drone use in crop production, include spray coverage of pesticides by drones, basics of flying drones effectively and different ways to use drones within crop production
