Functional traits, ecological strategies and global changes: from cells to space
This talk explores how plant functional traits—from leaf economics to hydraulic and water relation traits—shape ecological strategies and determine plant responses to global change. By integrating trait-based ecology, experimental measurements, and emerging remote-sensing approaches, the presentation highlights key trade-offs among plant functional traits and their use in an ecological context. Particular emphasis is placed on hydraulic traits as predictors of drought vulnerability, community assembly, and future ecosystem responses under changing climatic conditions.
