This project will improve water quality in the River Raisin watershed and reduce phosphorus entering Western Lake Erie basin by equipping farmers with tools to help prioritize efforts, identify fields most at risk for phosphorus and sediment loss, model and compare conservation practice benefits, and help producers plan manure/fertilizer application to reduce runoff. Farmers, conservation technicians, and private industry partners will work together through a unique grassroots engagement process, enhancing their effectiveness. The project will result in reduced rates of both sediment/nutrient loadings and soluble reactive phosphorus into the Great Lakes tributaries during critical spring and summer storm events.
