Schedule: M-F 6:30am-3:00pm.
Positions are full-time (limited part time positions available)
May 6th-August 16th, $15/hour
Beal Garden is looking for students to assist in maintaining the garden. This is a great opportunity to learn about native plants, develop horticultural skills, and maintain living collections. This position requires physical labor with the endurance to handle all kinds of weather. We are looking for candidates that are self-motivated, hardworking, inclusive, flexible, and a good teammate.
Over the course of the summer, students will lead a garden project, including but not limited to annual bed design, bed renovation, pollinator garden oversight, endangered and threatened management, garden record keeping, and riverbank focus, or propose a project of their own.
Regular tasks: planting, weeding, watering, mulching, pruning, invasive species removal, and event setup.

Collections Scholar
16-24 Hours/week available
Develop new collections and enhance existing collections of the Beal Botanical Garden. Scholars will support and maintain sustainable collections that tap into conservation, community representation, and the arts.
Desired Experience: Art and/or plant background, collections management, database management
Potential Tasks:
Research plants
Problem solve (organization and layout)
Inventory and Record Keeping
Identify and document plants
Education Scholar
24-32 Hours/week available
Work with Education Director and Education Coordinator to develop engaging materials and programming within the Garden and across campus.
Desired Experience: Public Education, Program development and implementation, Outreach
Potential Tasks:
Tabling Across Campus
Design and implement tours and guest experiences
Support Garden programming – lead Garden programming (if desired)
Communication Scholar
16-24 hours/week
Spread awareness about the Beal Botanical Garden throughout the campus and broader community by facilitating online engagement and creating informational materials.
Desired Experience: social media management, graphic design, video editing
Potential Activities:
Support management of website and social media
Editing of video materials for education and engagement
Promote Beal on Instagram, X, and Facebook
