Communications Intern (Remote Position)

Description

Forward-thinking and eager Communications Intern wanted to join the small but mighty team at the American Floral Endowment! This part-time member will work closely with our team to expand and improve our social media presence across all platforms. This is a 6-month position, 20-25 hours a week, with opportunity to extend. This position is open immediately.

Through your unique creativity, design skills, and knack for content creation, you’ll plan, draft, create, schedule, and track all content for our accounts. Showcase your exceptional writing, editing, and graphic design skills while facilitating online conversations and supporting the Endowment in various other projects as needed. Gain valuable job experience in a fast-paced environment as you share vital resources, information, and the joy of flowers with the floral industry and beyond. The hourly rate is dependent on experience ($16-18 range.) 

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Using best practices, plan, create, schedule, and publish high-quality social media content across all AFE platforms, including but not limited to graphics, photos, stories, and short-form videos. 
  • Enhance AFE’s social media presence and engagement using relevant trends, data, and reports to reach target audience and encourage engagement
  • Assist with social media analytics tracking
  • Write, proofread, and edit communications materials with efficiency and accuracy
  • Assist with other communications projects as needed
  • Responsibilities may include 2-3 hours per week of administrative work (online research, document creation or editing, database management projects, or using Microsoft Powerpoint and Excel) on an as-needed basis.



Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 6 Months to 1+ years’ experience in business communications/social media 
  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field is preferred but not required
  • Experience in social media management – planning/creating content, writing, editing, graphic design, and reporting
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - collaborating, communicating, and delivering on a fast-paced, small, remote team
  • Must have strong computer skills – experience with Microsoft Office, social media platforms, social media management platforms (Hootsuite preferred), Google Suite, Canva, and graphic design. 
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Enthusiasm for communications, flowers, and an eagerness to learn about the floral industry
  • Experience in the floral industry is preferred but not required
