Part-time, seasonal: April through November: 15 - 30 hours/wk
Flexible hours: generally between 8 am - 5 pm weekdays. Occasional special events or storms may require work outside that time-frame.
Compensation: $25 - $35/hour depending on experience.

The landscape was planted in 2013 and includes shoreline, perennial beds, mature trees, boxwood hedges and other shrubs, as well as containers of annuals. The majority of the space is planted in a formal style though the property also includes areas of informal planting. The garden includes both native and exotic plants.
The gardener works with the property manager and housekeeper to maintain the grounds and indoor plants.
General Du6es
Perform general garden duties using organic Landcare practices to care for the trees, shrubs, perennials and houseplants, assuring quality of aesthetics and plant health.
- Examples of general garden duties involved: Weeding, Deadheading, fertilizing, staking, planting, mulching, fall leaf clean-up, selective depth pruning and assisting with hedge
- Renovate garden areas as needed
- Safely and effectively operate small machinery ( trimmers, blowers)
- Purchase materials and supplies for the garden in coordination with property manager
- Collaborate with property manager to control nuisance animals
- Keep tool shed duty tools clean and in good Keep accurate log of daily work.
Qualifica6ons
- Minimum 3 years experience with formal garden maintenance
- Familiar with basic mechanical and hand tools typically used in landscape
- Able to identify weeds and ornamental plants (both native and exotic)
- Familiar with the soils, climate and plant pests and diseases of the Traverse City, MI
- IPM and organic horticultural skills are highly
- Clean background and driving record
- Excellent stamina and strength. This is a physically demanding job requiring exposure to a variety of weather
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Reliable, hardworking, self-motivated and able to work well alone and with
- Floral design and landscape design skills desirable, but not
