Wannamoisett country club is seeking dedicated and hardworking individuals who aim to advance their skills and knowledge in the turf grass career path. Located just minutes outside the heart of Providence and 50 minutes from Boston, Wannamoisett is known as one of the premiere golf clubs in New England. This internship provides the opportunity to potentially move into a position on our management staff.

 

ABOUT THE COURSE

Wannamoisett Country Club is a classic Donald Ross design recently renovated by Golf Course Architect Andrew Green. This project was awarded “Best Renovation of 2023” by Golf Digest. The club hosted the 1931 PGA Championship and is the annual host of the Northeast Amateur Invitational. The Northeast Amateur is considered to be one of the top four amateur tournaments in the country featuring the top collegiate players from around the nation. Phase one of the master plan improvements included green expansions, reconstructing all tees and creating additional tees, replacing greens loop irrigation, and complete bunker renovation. There have been recent upgrades incorporated as well including bailouts around green complexes for extended playability options. Moving forward with the master plan there are opportunities for experience with the construction of cart paths, establishment of native areas, drainage projects and installation of stone work for course beautification. This master plan work along with day to day operations is made easy with new and well maintained equipment. The Club is ranked 53rd in the top 200 classical courses in America, per Golf week 2021. SCOPE OF WORK

Interns will have the opportunity to learn, participate, and take the lead on tasks such as;

  • IPM strategies - integration into making applications, and decision making for strategies.
  • Staff management
  • Hand watering
  • Irrigation management
  • Small project management & team leading
  • Drainage installation
  • Irrigation repair & auditing
  • Basic mechanical work such as adjusting height of cut
  • Heavy Equipment Experience

 

Educational Requirements

Currently enrolled in/Recently Graduated from a Certificate, Associate's, Bachelor's or Master's Degree program in Turfgrass Science or related Agronomy based field.

Experience Requirements

  • 1-2 Years golf course experience preferred but not required.
  • Other Requirements Strong work ethic TEAM player
  • Ability to have fun with your career

 

Benefits

  • $18 per hour plus overtime
  • 40-55 hours per week, additional overtime available
