Irrigation Intern
Employment type: Internship
Application Due Date: April 30, 2026
Irrigation Technician Intern
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Irrigation Intern to join our team for the upcoming season. This isn't
just a "shadowing" role—you’ll be in the field, learning the mechanics of water distribution, troubleshooting
complex systems, and understanding the vital role irrigation plays in Landscape Management.
This internship is designed to take you from a classroom understanding of hydraulics to real-world application,
working alongside experienced professionals.
What You’ll Do
System Maintenance: Assist in the spring start-up, mid-season inspections and winterization of
commercial/residential systems.
Troubleshooting: Work with senior techs to identify leaks, clogged nozzles and electrical faults in
wiring or valves.
Smart Technology: Learn to program and manage smart controllers (WiFi/Cellular) and adjust
schedules based on local weather ET (Evapotranspiration) data.
Repair Work: Gain hands-on experience with pipe fitting (PVC and Poly), head replacement, and valve
manifold repairs.
Audit & Efficiency: Assist in identifying system inefficiencies in uniformity and help develop watersaving recommendations for clients.
What We’re Looking For
Education: Currently enrolled in a program related to Horticulture, Turfgrass Management,
Agricultural Engineering, or Landscape Contracting.
The "Handyman" Mindset: You aren't afraid to get your hands dirty and enjoy figuring out how
things work.
Physical Stamina: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
Problem Solvers: Someone who looks at a dry patch of grass as a puzzle to be solved, not just a chore.
License: A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
Why Intern With Us?
Competitive Pay:
Mentorship: Direct access to industry veterans who want to teach you the "why" behind the "how."
Tools & Tech: Exposure to the latest in irrigation technology (Hydro-Rain, K-Rain, Hunter, Rain Bird,
and Netafim).
Career Path: Many of our successful interns transition into full-time roles upon graduation.
