Job Description:

We are looking for farm crew members interested in organic vegetable production with a passion for growing food, strawberries, flowers, and pumpkins. This position is full-time, 40+ hrs per week. Hours will vary through the season and there can be additional hours available in the busy season. The position is for a summer internship, with potential for a longer season or to move into a full time year round position with potential for advancement and growth.

 

About our farm:

We are a forty-acre all-natural farm cultivating half of our land in produce for farm markets and our CSA program. Ten acres are dedicated to U-pick strawberries, lavender, sunflowers, and pumpkins. We bring a natural and soil-renewing approach to farming and a safe space for our apiary of honeybees that produces hundreds of gallons of raw honey every year. We focus on nursery work in the spring and grow and array of veg year-round for our CSA, farm market, on-site market, and wholesale customers. Our breakdown is about 30% nursery type plant sales, 40% wholesale, and 30% direct sales and CSA.

 

Minimum qualifications include:

Ability to lift 50 lbs comfortably and consistently

Ability to work long hours on your feet—farming can be hard work.

Enjoying working outside---we expect work to be performed outside and sometimes the weather just doesn’t cooperate there can be mud, sleet, snow, rain, blistering heat!

Pride in work---we expect all work to be done to the highest quality for our customers

Enjoy working quickly---we have a lot to accomplish every day on the farm

Strong communication skills---there is a lot of teamwork, but also a lot of complex individual tasks

Willingness to learn---there are a lot of different, varied tasks and they all require a lot of attention to detail.

A passion for growing food and the local food system

Valid ID and drivers license

 

Preferred qualifications:

Experience working on a farm

Experience with power tools and tractors

Experience with basic plumbing and construction

Experience with farming or nursery work

 

Job Type: Full-time

 

Salary: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
