The Beaudry Lab is looking to hire two highly driven, motivated, and reliable students interested in learning and working on a diversity of projects.
Current research projects and tasks:
· Lenticel breakdown in apple:
o Apple harvest, crate and chamber washing for short/long term storage, maturity analyses (ethylene, sugars, firmness, starch)
· Dynamic Controlled Atmosphere (DCA):
o Maturity analyses
o Aroma analysis (mass spectrometry)
· Aroma pathways in apple and banana
o Molecular analysis of pathways leading to the wonderful aroma of the fruit we eat
Traits of strong applicants:
· A strong interest in science and research and a desire to learn
· 3-hour blocks of availability preferred (not necessary), 15-20 hours a week
· Strong work ethic
Lab will also consider undergraduates looking to earn independent study credit, those wanting to create an undergraduate thesis, and more
