Job description: Several full-time undergraduate research assistant positions are available for Summer 2024 in the Entomology Department. You will participate in conducting research in the field and the lab; set up experiments, and collect insects and data. You will often travel in MSU vehicles (travel time is paid) to research sites across Michigan. Research will focus on ecology, biological control, pollination, organic farming, insect vectors, and crop scouting. Through this experience you will get to know researchers, learn how to conduct ecological experiments, identify some insects, process data, collaborate in a research team, work independently; all of this will help you build your scientific resume. Job details: starting salary is $15.00/hr, approx. 40 hours/week. Employment period is May through August with some flexibility on start and end dates.

Required qualifications: valid U.S. driver’s license, ability to drive for several hours at a time, ability to work outside for long periods, attention to detail, ability to work in teams and independently.
Desirable skills: Interest in insects, ecology and agriculture will be helpful. Candidates should be enthusiastic, willing to work flexible hours and enjoy working outside. Experience working with insects and Excel is a plus.
