2023 Chopped Food Challenge Day 2
Rain, rain go away!!
2023 Chopped Food Challenge Day 2
Garden time:
Due to the rain, garden time was in the upper barn. They played bingo with different butterflies on it, a matching game with bugs and cornhole! They had so much fun, and it was a good time to get out of the rain.
Planning recipes!
Everyone finalized their ingredient list and made sure they knew the recipe they were making. Some pepper groups made adjustments to their recipes and finally came to an agreement.
Seed Bombs
Campers will explore soil composition, the role of different soil components (clay and compost) and the value of plant diversity. With the clay and water campers rolled it into a ball then rolled the seeds on it. Once it’s dry, they are going to toss it around the farm and see what happens!
Paint Clay food
Their clay creations are dry! They’re finally coming to life with some paint. Their clay food turned out so cute.
Animal Chores/Beachball game
Even with the rain, campers still made it out to the animal barn to care for the animals. Green Peppers headed into the greenhouse and played with a beach ball and had to make sure it stayed in the air. Good way to pass the time rather than doing animal chores.
Garden Kitchen: fruit milkshake & steamed spinach salad
YUM! As always, campers love garden kitchen and all the yummy recipes they make. Today they made two healthier snacks. In the morning was a fruit smoothie (or milkshake) where they got to choose the fruit to put in it. In the afternoon they tried a steamed spinach salad.
Vermicomposting
Campers learned the science behind vermicomposting; how worms decompose organic material and turn it into rich compost to benefit soil and reduce waste.
