Happy Friday and tie dye day!!
Green Science Adventures Day 5
|Happy Friday! It’s tie dye day!! Everyone rocked their tie dye shirts we made on Monday.
Garden Time/Throw Seed Bombs
This morning the campers got to throw their seed bombs around Tollgate! Hopefully when it rains, the seeds will spread.
Wagon Ride
Campers got to go on a run wagon ride around Tollgate! They had a blast and waved to everyone passing by them. It was one of the most talked about activities of the day They got to see the forest, sheep, more gardens.
Animal Chores: Ducks, Goats, Chickens and Bunnies
Every camper did amazing with taking care of the animals this week, they LOVED playing with the bunnies the most. They’ve been such a huge help and it’s taught them how to care for animals on a farm.
Pond Study
In our pond there’s a lot of organisms and fish living in our pond. Even all sorts of seaweed, moss and many more plants growing! Can’t forget the snapping turtle! Today, our campers scooped up some pond water to investigate what they saw. Some used a mini fishing net to see if they could catch something.
Biodegradable Pots
Campers made a pot that was made from newspaper that they can take home and watch the plant grow. They wrapped newspaper around a wooden cylinder then made it into a pot to put dirt and seeds in.
STEM Symposium/Clean up.
The last and final day of our STEM projects! Each group talked about their drawings of a sustainable farm and what they did to make it sustainable, some even included little animal figures to tie it all together.
Litter Clean up or Garden Signs Hike
It was a mix between picking up trash or some pepper groups finished painting signs to put in the garden. If you ever head on over to the EDU garden, you’ll see all the creative garden signs the campers made.
Garden Kitchen: Cheesy Scrambled Eggs, trail mix and popsicles
Campers had breakfast as a snack today and made delicious scrambled eggs which were a hit with everyone who tried! In the afternoon, there was a traveling snack that was trail mix which had dried bananas, pretzels, gold fish, chocolate chips and more. As a cool treat we had popsicles for everyone to cool down on such a hot day.
Skits
At the end of each camp week, pepper groups come up with a skit on what they learned during the week. Even do a song too! It’s a fun way to wrap up such a fun filled week. Our campers did amazing with having to adapt to the weather changes that affected stations earlier in the week. They had a blast learning about the farm this week and can’t wait to see some familiar faces at future camps!
