2023 Sprouts Camp Half Day: THURS & FRI
Happy Friday!
2023 Sprouts Camp Half Day: Thursday & Friday
Today our Sprouts learned about what’s in a pond & a story of a fishy!
Boat Building
We used recycled materials to demonstrate how boats float on water. They learned the characteristics of making a boat float and what materials we can use for the boat. Campers got creative with their boat designs.
A Fishy Story
This activity was all about Fred the fish and his experience with the water that he calls home. From the food that we eat, the activities that we enjoy, the places we call home, this all can have an impact on our water. Although none of us can be perfect, we can make a positive change. What changes can you make in your life to help keep our water safe and clean for Fred and for us.
Pond Study
Campers took to the pond to learn about all the critters that live in the pond. They got to explore the macroinvertebrates in our pond. From Crayfish to Mayflies and snails’ campers got to get up close and they dipped their toes in the life of a water scientist.
Duck visit
Since today is all about water, it only seemed fitting to have our water loving fowl as our animal visit of the day. Campers got to visit their pen, fill up their pool, observe and enjoy their behaviors, and learn all about how they have a superpower called an oil gland that allows them to waterproof their feathers to help keep them buoyant and dry.
2023 Sprouts Camp Half Day: Friday
Last day of Sprouts! Our campers are having a blast!
Pony Snack:
Our lovely pony Sesame got a yummy snack of carrots and apples! Campers even learned about how horses see differently than humans do. Which is why you have got to be careful going behind them because we tell campers that they’re embarrassed of their big booty rather than saying they could kick you, just to not scare campers. Ms. Lexi even took campers out to the arena with Sesame!
Vermicomposting
Just like our Earth Engineers this week, sprouts learned about vermicomposting! They handled worms to discover how they move through the dirt. Campers discussed how worms are important to soil and ecological health.
Skits
During the week, campers prepare a skit to show their parents what they've learned during the week. Our Sprouts did a cute camp song, they were smiling and having a blast! It was so cute to see. They did amazing.
Have an amazing weekend! Shoutout to our EDU Leaders Ms. Lexi and Ms. Miranda for all their hard work with our Sprouts this week.
