Apply by Sunday! MassTimber@MSU Seeks MI Healthy Climate Corps Outreach Specialist
Want to work with MassTimber@MSU? MI Healthy Climate Corps member applications are open and we are hosting a full-time Outreach Specialist focused on developing and launching an outreach plan to engage underserved and climate-affected communities.
The Michigan Healthy Climate Corps drives climate action statewide, supporting the MI Healthy Climate Plan's 2050 carbon neutrality goal. Launched by Governor Whitmer in April 2022, the plan aims to combat climate change, create jobs, and build a healthier, more equitable Michigan.
MassTimber@MSU is excited to announce an incredible opportunity: a one-year, full-time Outreach Specialist position. The MHC Corps member will develop and launch an outreach and engagement plan targeting underserved and climate-affected communities, including tribal, BIPOC, and other under-invested groups. Building on the work of the 2024 MHC Corps member, the new member will tailor the outreach plan to focus on these communities' interests in mass timber.
Key tasks include:
- Identifying organizations and individuals within the targeted communities.
- Gauging interest in mass timber through surveys, conversations, or other methods.
- Determining effective engagement methods (e.g., online meetings, in-person events).
- Drafting a comprehensive outreach and stakeholder engagement plan.
- Organizing and facilitating initial outreach activities.
The member will also help communities access climate resources, participate in MHC Corps development activities, and host a community input session to support the MI Healthy Climate Plan's goals.
The application deadline is September 8, 2024.
