August is for seed treatment
Register today for in-person or virtual seed treatment education opportunities coming up in August.
Many field crop seeds planted throughout the Midwest are treated with pesticides. Proper application and product selection throughout the seed treatment process is important for plant and environmental health. This August, join Michigan State University Extension either in-person or online for seed treatment education.
Webinars on seed treatment topics will begin Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 12 to 1 p.m. and continue each Tuesday in August. Topics will include nematode management, insect and disease management, use rate calculations and soybean biological treatment. One restricted use pesticide (RUP) (1A, 4 and Private) and one certified crop adviser (CCA) credit have been approved for each webinar. An in-person seed treatment workshop will take place at the Michigan State University Extension Van Buren County Office, 57418 Co Rd 681 Suite A, Hartford, MI 49057, on Monday, Aug. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Topics will include use rate calculations, equipment maintenance and calibration, personal protective equipment, soybean biological treatments, nematode management, and storing and disposing pesticides and treated seeds. Four RUP (Private and Commercial Core, 1A and 4) and 3.5 CCA (3 PM, 0.5 CM) credits have been approved for the in-person workshop.
