The CANR Outstanding Academic Advisor Award honors academic advisors for their commitment and excellence in supporting students to set and reach their academic and professional goals.

Erin Bosch-Hannah, a senior academic specialist in the Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences, has been an influential member of the CANR community for 12 years. In her role, Bosch-Hannah provides educational and career advising to agricultural industry students, connecting them with professional internships and valuable networking opportunities. She assists in teaching various courses, including introduction to crop science, issues in international agriculture and career leadership in agriculture. In her additional role as faculty advisor to the MSU Agronomy Club, Bosch-Hannah assists members as they compete in collegiate crops judging contests and attend conferences. Her ongoing commitment to student development has had a positive impact on the academic experience of many.

One nominator notes, “What makes Erin exceptional is her personal connection to students and the agriculture industry. She goes above and beyond, actively creating opportunities for students. Erin’s initiation of the pre-career fair mixer has helped many secure important internships and expand their professional networks.”
