Congratulations to Our NCWSS Award Winners!

This week, we are proud to recognize award winners from our recent North Central Weed Science Society (NCWSS) Annual Meeting held in Grand Rapids, MI.

Congratulations to three outstanding weed science graduate students who placed in graduate student contests:
Jacob Felsman
• 2nd Place, Horticulture & Specialty Crops – PhD Poster Contest
• Title: Planting date effects on waterhemp (Amaranthus tuberculatus) management in dry edible beans
• PI: Dr. Christy Sprague
Michael Dodde
• 1st Place, Horticulture & Specialty Crops – PhD Paper Contest
• Title: Influence of tillage system and herbicide programs for weed control in Truvera sugarbeet
• PI: Dr. Christy Sprague
Connor Purvis
• 1st Place, Weed Genetics & Herbicide Physiology – PhD Paper Contest
• Title: Development of KASP assays to differentiate between Sorghum bicolor, S. halepense, and their hybrids: Insight into crop-to-weed gene flow
• PI: Dr. Erin Burns
In addition, Dr. Erin Burns was honored with the NCWSS Young Scientist Distinguished Achievement Award—an incredible accomplishment and well-deserved recognition.
