CRFS receives Hazen Pingree Award for Food System Innovation
CRFS was honored to receive the Hazen Pingree and Senator Stabenow Silo Buster awards from the Eastern Market Partnership.
On February 2, Eastern Market Partnership held its 2023 Merchant and Vendor Dinner honoring the people and businesses that make the historic local food district a vibrant and inviting place to shop, connect, and do business. In addition to the many farm and food businesses and organizations highlighted that night, the MSU Center for Regional Food Systems was among the honorees, receiving the Hazen Pingree Award for Food System Innovation.
CRFS Director Dr. Jahi Chappell and Specialist Lindsey Scalera were present to accept the award and offer gratitude to the community members that make our work to improve Michigan's local and regional food systems possible. CRFS former director, Rich Pirog was also awarded the Senator Stabenow Silo Buster Award for Acute Collaboration, which Chappell and Scalera accepted in his absence.
We appreciate the continued collaboration we have with Eastern Market Partnership as we engage the people of Michigan, the United States and the world in developing regionally integrated, sustainable food systems.
