Nature Communications published our response to critique of Kravchenko et al. 2019 paper

Our response to critique of the Nature Communication paper "Microbial spatial footprint as a driver of soil carbon stabilization" has been published. It concisely presents the concept of the importance of soil pores for microbial functioning.

Our paper "Microbial spatial footprint as a driver of soil carbon stabilization" published in Nature Communications in 2019 generated a lot of interest. But there was criticism as well. Recently, Nature Communications published our response to a critique letter. It gave us an opportunity to present in a concise form our concept of the role that soil pore architecture plays in microbial functioning, and especially, soil carbon processing.

Thanks to Chelsea Mamott for the great figure illustrating the concept!
