Announcing the 2026-27 Forests + Climate Learning Exchange Series
We are excited to announce the 2026-27 Forests + Climate Learning Exchange Series (LES), co-hosted by the Forest Carbon and Climate Program (FCCP) and the Society of American Foresters (SAF). The 2026-27 series will explore how forests are both shaping and being shaped by global climate policy. Centered on international forest policy, this series convenes researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and civil society leaders to examine how forest carbon science, management, and governance intersect across borders.
Join us for the first webinar on October 14! David N. Wear, Senior Fellow, Resources for the Future, will kick off the 2026-27 series, presenting "The Evolving Policy Landscape for the Forest Products Sector.
FCCP receives funding to improve methods to measure and monitor aboveground biomass in US agroforestry systems
FCCP, in collaboration with the MSU Forest Measurement and Modeling Lab, received funding from the USDA Forest Service to measure and monitor aboveground biomass in US agroforestry systems. The purpose of this project is to advance the USDA Forest Service National Agroforestry Center (NAC) and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) ability to measure the aboveground productivity of agroforestry systems to monitor carbon, timber and conservation outcomes at the program level.

Tenure Track Faculty of Biology and Forestry – Francis Marion University
Francis Marion University and the Departments of Biology and Forestry invite applications for a joint tenure-track Faculty of Biology and Forestry. The successful candidate should be able to teach Wildlife Biology, Conservation Biology, and introductory courses in Biology, Environmental Science and/or Forestry. There is also opportunity to teach additional classes in the candidate’s area of expertise.
District Forester – Sierra Pacific Industries
In the Forestry Division, Lassen District, SPI has an opening for a qualified District Forester to sustainably manage the Company’s timberlands in Shasta and Tehama counties. This position involves working with California Registered Professional Foresters (RPFs) to prepare harvest plans and administer harvest operations. The successful applicant will work out of their district office located in Anderson, California.
Operations Forester – LandVest
LandVest is looking for an energetic and dedicated individual for an Operations Forester position for its growing business in its Ridgway, Pennsylvania Office. The position will be a mix of field (80%) and office (20%) work for various clients focusing on meeting their objectives. The position will report to the Pennsylvania Regional Forester.

FCCP Landowner Resource Hub
The Forest Carbon and Climate Program developed the Landowner Resource Hub, an online resource hub to support landowners and forestry professionals interested in learning about and applying management strategies and concepts related to forest carbon and climate. The hub focuses on resources beneficial to landowners and forestry professionals in the Lake States, but may also be topical to those in nearby communities. The September edition will be released next week.
