Rufus Isaacs awarded 2017 Distinguished Service Award by Michigan State Horticultural Society
Isaacs was recognized for his outstanding research and extension work for Michigan’s fruit growers.
Rufus Isaacs was honored this month by the Michigan State Horticultural Society for his work with IPM programs and pollination. The society noted that he has collaborated closely with berry growers to deliver IPM programs for key insect pests including Japanese beetle, grape berry moth and spotted wing Drosophila. He also has contributed significantly by studying wild and managed pollinators and their role in supporting fruit production.
Isaacs’ research program has received over $10 million in competitive funding and his team has published results in over 50 extension publications, 10 book chapters and over 150 research publications. Students and postdocs from his lab are employed at land-grant universities, the U.S. EPA, agrochemical companies and at other organizations.
