The theme for this year’s first-year cohort is “Embracing Diversity”, inspired by the rich insect biodiversity represented by our arthropod mascot, Sesia spartani, a clearwing moth first collected in Shiawassee County, Michigan, and named in honor of the MSU Spartans. This wasp mimic is one of about 45 species of clearwing moths known from Michigan and surrounding states.

Our new graduate students are:

Martin Brubaker, MS student, Wilson Lab
Jenna Byrne, MS student, Wilson Lab
Timothy Harrison, MS student, McCullough Lab
Nate Howder, MS student, Cognato Lab
Mikaela Shutter-Trexell, MS student, Szucs Lab
Junkai Wang, MS student, Cognato Lab
