Information Technologist Emeritus Margaret Beaver is renowned in AEC/AFRE for her dedicated work in assisting faculty and graduate students in data preparation and analysis, and in helping to train hundreds of host country collaborators in data collection, data entry, data cleaning and analysis She joined the MSU Agricultural Economics Department in 1983 as a programmer, assisting Departmental faculty in data preparation and analysis on the main-frame computer.
As AEC/AFRE faculty and students slowly migrated away from main-frame use toward the application of micro-computers, Margaret was an instrumental partner in facilitating this change, and in assisting in the learning process for emerging micro-computer based statistical software for the collection, processing and analysis of social economic survey data.
Margaret Beaver retired from MSU in 2012, but since then continued working on selected international projects as a training consultant.
