Sarah Klammer is the Senior Academic Specialist for the Extension Center for Local Government Finance and Policy and the Center for Economic Analysis. She completed a Masters in Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics at Michigan State University in 2017. While at MSU, Sarah worked on a Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center project, culminating in her thesis on the economic availability of woody biomass in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Sarah subsequently worked as a Research Analyst for the international food safety and quality scheme GLOBALG.A.P. in Cologne, Germany, followed by a role as a Cooperator Economist for the USDA-APHIS Plant Epidemiology and Risk Analysis Laboratory through North Carolina State University until early 2019, when she returned to Michigan and to MSU.
 
In her current role, Sarah leads projects on local fiscal health, economic impact analysis, and institutional performance evaluation. She serves as MSU's project lead for the City of Detroit's University Economic Partnership and has developed innovative frameworks for institutional impact analysis, including co-authoring a textbook on the Legal-Economic Performance Framework. Her work spans grant development, stakeholder engagement, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and policy research for diverse clients including local governments, federal agencies, and private organizations.
