Mamy Rakotondravelo
I am a Research Specialist at the MSU Center for PFAS Research/Analytical Laboratory, where I focus on complex sample preparation and extraction method development for PFAS analysis using LC-MS/MS workflows. I received my doctoral degree from Michigan State University, where my research investigated how early-life priming of a resistant pest species with trace insecticide exposure influences responses to secondary adult challenges across generations.
My expertise spans environmental and insecticide toxicology, with research experience in aquatic and terrestrial ecotoxicology, ranging from laboratory biomarker evaluations to field-based monitoring of non-target fauna; the efficacy and fate of conventional and RNAi-based pesticides; and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and pesticide resistance. These efforts focused on advancing science-based solutions for environmental health and agricultural sustainability. I have also trained visiting scientists from multiple countries on pesticide residue mitigation and Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) to support food safety and international trade. To complement my current responsibilities, I maintain a strong interest in applying biostatistics, machine learning, and molecular docking to predict the toxicological profiles of emerging contaminants and assess future environmental and human health risks.
