Bereket Tsegay is a Senior Research and Policy Analyst at the UK and Horn of Africa based Pastoral and Environmental Network in the Horn of Africa (PENHA), a non-profit research institute and a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London where he earned his PhD in Development Studies. Having earned an MA in public policy and management from the University of Potsdam, Germany, his research has focused on policy analysis, encompassing natural resource governance, food security, pastoralism, the dynamics of institutions in development, climate change, resilience and the green economy, risk management, as well as social protection. Tsegay has rich experience, gained in both consultancy work and programme management of EU and UN-supported activities in the Horn of Africa, including Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somaliland, South Sudan and Sudan and Uganda.
