Tor is an applied microeconomist specializing in food and agricultural systems. His research focuses on measuring and interpreting tail events—rare yet consequential occurrences that can shape behavior and challenge the assumptions of standard quantitative methods. His work has practical applications in areas such as risk, resilience, and policy. He earned his PhD from the University of California, Davis in 2020.
