I’m a second-year master's student working in the Cropping Systems Agronomy Lab with winter wheat and corn. My research aims to optimize planting practices in winter wheat by exploring the role of precision planting, row spacing, seeding rate, and varietal canopy architecture. These factors can help develop an ideal wheat canopy, maximizing light interception and radiation use efficiency (RUE), leading to sustainable yield and profit improvements for growers in Michigan and the Great Lakes Region. Additionally, I am leading a secondary project to better understand the performance of newly released short-stature corn hybrids in Michigan environments and optimize agronomic decisions such as row spacing and seeding rates to maximize profitability potential for Michigan growers.
