Evaluation activities for 10 Cents a Meal for Michigan’s Kids & Farms (10 Cents a Meal) is led by the MSU Center for Regional Food Systems (CRFS). Since 2016, CRFS has conducted evaluation and reporting on the program’s activities and impacts with support from the Michigan Department of Education, Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development, and Groundwork Center for Resilient Communities. This webpage houses all 10 Cents a Meal evaluation reports since the program started as a pilot in 2016. What is 10 Cents a Meal?
10 Cents a Meal is a state-funded program that matches what participating schools and other non-school sponsors spend on fresh or minimally processed Michigan-grown fruits, vegetables, and dry beans with grants of up to 10 cents per meal. The goals of the program are to improve daily nutrition and eating habits for Michigan children and invest in Michigan’s agriculture and local food business economy.
