The impacts of rural tourism on the vulnerability of farmers' livelihood: from the perspective of coupled social-ecological system

Abstract: Based on the perspective of social-ecological coupling analysis, regard rural tourism destinations as local socio-ecological systems, tourism activities as disturbances to the system, and participation in tourism as adaptive livelihood strategies under the rationality of farmers' survival Based on the framework of sustainable livelihoods, the rural tourism development process of 5 case villages in Fujian Province was combed, and subjective and objective weighting methods were comprehensively used to evaluate and classify and compare the livelihood capital and livelihood vulnerability of rural households, and explore the livelihood capital and livelihood vulnerability of rural households. The results show that rural tourism not only improves farmers 'livelihood capital, but also forms a comprehensive disturbance and impact on the local social-ecological system, and the vulnerability of farmers' livelihoods is at a medium-to-high level. The livelihoods of farmers in different case villages and different types of livelihood strategies Shows large differences. In addition to livelihood strategies, farmers' livelihood capital is also significantly positively affected by tourism company cooperation, village cadre capacity, and mutual assistance and exchanges between farmers. The adverse disturbances suffered by social subsystems are the biggest obstacles for farmers to reduce vulnerability. The high instability of social capital and cognitive capital itself is driving the vulnerability of livelihoods. Therefore, the sustainable development of rural tourism should ensure farmers 'land value-added income, guide farmers to self-organize construction, and ensure the farmers' dominance of community public affairs with institutional supply, improve natural capital and physical capital, and build a society with higher coverage. Security system to improve farmers' ability to resist livelihood risks and reduce livelihood vulnerability.
