How it Works

LFPP offers grant funds with a 25% match to support the development and expansion of local and regional food business enterprises (i.e. food hubs or food hub related businesses) to increase domestic consumption and access to locally and regionally produced agricultural products, and aids in developing new market opportunities for farm and ranch operations serving local markets.

Funding Focuses On

The program is divided into three types of grants that focus on increasing access to and availability of locally and regionally produced farm products, including value-added products. Priority is given to projects that benefit underserved communities.

Funding Limit

  • Planning project, maximum $250,000 for 24 months
  • Implementation and Farm to Institution project maximum, $500,000 for 36 months
  • Turnkey Marketing and Promotion project, maximum $100,000 for 24 months

Qualifications

Agricultural businesses, agricultural cooperatives, producer and community support agriculture networks and associations, economic development corporations, food councils, local governments, nonprofit corporations, public benefit corporations, regional famers market authorities, and Tribal governments. The program requires a 25% match commitment.
