To prepare for applying to federally funded grant opportunities, entrepreneurs are required to have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) from sam.gov. In this two-page resource, the process to apply for this free 12-digit number is outlined. This resource complements a webinar hosted on June 20, 2024 where Dan Cornelius of Yowela Farms and Aje Elliott of Workin' Roots Farm shared firsthand experiences in applying for grants from a federal source.

This resource sheet is designed to assist entrepreneurs in preparing to apply for grant funding from various sources, including forthcoming Business Builder Awards from the Great Lakes Midwest Regional Food Business Center.
