The MI Farm to School Grant Program is an effort to help food program providers overcome challenges and stimulate or sustain local food purchasing programs at K-12 schools and early childhood programs in Michigan.  The information that follows includes:

  • A rationale for implementing this grant program
  • A summary of the first three years of the MI Farm to School Grant Program (2011 to 2014), including its operations and impacts
  • A reflection on the sustainability of grantees’ farm to school activities
  • Findings from administering the program over time
  • Suggestions for adapting it as a model for other communities, states or regions
