It was in the early hours of Saturday, precisely, 6:30 am, November 11, 2018 that I sensed something different. The morning seemed a lot brighter than usual quickly pulled down the curtain after my morning prayer and I was so amazed at what I saw. “Wao, Oh my God!” I exclaimed, “Its snow! Wonderful!” I quickly rushed to my flat mate - Choko, to come see this beautiful scenery.
It was my first-time seeing snow. As cheesy as it sounds, it looked quite magical seeing the little flakes floating down.
Having lived all my life in Nigeria, particularly the northern part of Nigeria where the temperature typically varies from 64°F to 100°F and is rarely below 60°F year round, I was amazed to see this phenomenon which I had only seen in movies and read about in books.
Excitedly, I rushed out to see and feel the droplets on me. It was really cold outside. Every step I take felt like I was crunching the snow below my boots. That alone was fun to me and I kept crunching about in the streets. Everything was covered in white flakes.
It was so beautiful. I said to myself that I must take enough pictures of this beautiful scenery to show my people back in Nigeria so that they would know what it feels like to be in the snow. Even though, snow might not be a big deal, seeing this for the first time was quite special to me.
