MSU Apiculture Extension Educator talks about the importance of honey bees and other pollinators in Michigan.
Video Transcript
Hello, my name is Ana Heck and I'm an Apiculture Extension Educator at Michigan State University with a statewide appointment. Honeybees play an important role in Michigan agriculture by producing honey and by pollinating crops like cherries, blueberries, apples, cucumbers, and melons. MSU Extension works with beekeepers to keep honeybees healthy. We also work with growers, pesticide applicators, and home gardeners to reduce pesticide exposure to bees and improve habitat to support all pollinators. One of the best ways to support pollinator health is to plant flowers for them. And Michigan, we have over 450 species of bees. You can learn more about pollinators and Michigan issues they're facing and how you can help by taking MSU's free Pollinator Champions online course. Thank you.
