Professional organizations and networking are vital for all academic professionals and graduate students within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR). The organizations below offer networking opportunities and conferences.
The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion also offers some conference funding for a variety of professionals and graduate students.
MSU Chapters
There are MSU chapters available for professional organizations connected with diversity and inclusion in agriculture, natural resources and science.
Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS)
The MSU Chapter of Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) is a national organization that began at Michigan State University 30 years ago. It promotes career opportunities, networking, and professional development for underrepresented undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals in CANR fields.

Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS)
The MSU Chapter of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) is a society of scientists dedicated to fostering the success of Chicano/Hispanic and Native American scientists – from college students to professionals – to attain advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership in science.

Conference Sponsorship
The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion encourages representation from CANR at a variety of professional and academic events to ensure our recruitment reaches a broad range of potential graduate students and academic professionals.
There is some funding available for CANR graduate students to attend professional conferences to expand their professional networks and represent CANR overall.
