Registration and Course Policies
Registration and Enrollment
FCCP courses will be offered three times per year according to the schedule below. Participants can register at any time, but the course must be completed during the access window. Check the course page for a time estimate.
- January 9–April 9
- May 9–August 9
- September 9–December 9
Participants can register for courses at the MSU Department of Forestry official storefront. Click the ‘Register’ button below to be taken to the storefront to purchase courses.
You will receive communication from an online education specialist within 1-3 business days of your course purchase. This message will include instructions to create your course login and password. To learn more about the onboarding process and for a preview of what to expect upon registration, please read the information below.
Discount Eligibility
There is a 20% course discount available to eligible participants listed below. If you fit one of these groups, send an email to forestc@msu.edu with the required documentation to receive a unique discount code. You will then be able to apply this code on the MSU Forestry non-credit course store on any of the Forest Carbon and Climate Program courses. The code can be entered on the page after payment information.
- Returning course participants:
- Please email us with your name, email, year, and the name of the previous course you took offered by the Forest Carbon and Climate Program. Participants who completed one of our courses offered through the Society of American Foresters are also eligible for this discount.
- USDA employees:
- Send us an email with your USDA or USFS email address and request the discount.
- Developing nations:
- Individuals from this list of eligible countries qualify for this discount. Please send us an email along with an image of your ID or other documentation (such as a screenshot of a professional listing) as proof of work/citizenship status.
- Currently enrolled in a university:
- Please provide proof of your currently enrolled status (e.g., course schedule) via email.
- Groups of 5 or more:
- Contact us directly at forestc@msu.edu with a full list of participants' names and email addresses to inquire about group purchasing options.
- Military personnel:
- Please send us documentation of military service to claim the discount.
Course Access
Step 1: Create a guest account
All FCCP course participants will need to create a Michigan State University Guest Account in order to sign into the online learning system. Click this link to create a guest account and follow the prompts. For step-by-step instructions, click here.
Step 2: Course access
Once you have set up your MSU Guest Account, you can log into the online learning platform, called Desire2Learn (D2L), at http://d2l.msu.edu. Please note that courses may not appear on the homepage until the first day of the course. Please email forestc@msu.edu for help with course access.
Course Certificates and Refunds
Students must complete all course requirements within their chosen course period in order to receive a formal Certificate of Completion from the MSU Department of Forestry. Certificates will not be distributed to those who fail to complete the course by the closing date. At the discretion of the FCCP, course access can be extended by one week maximum for all course participants. Course extensions cannot be granted on an individual basis.
Students are eligible for a full course refund if requested within 14 days of the course opening date barring that a significant portion of the course has not been accessed. Reach us at forestc@msu.edu for more information.
