World Bank Forest Investment Program – Case Study
Project Description
The Forest Carbon and Climate Program (FCCP) worked in partnership with the World Bank's Forest Investment Program (FIP) to develop and publish "A Case Study of the Forest Investment Program in Mexico."
A PDF providing an overview of the project can be found here: /fccp/partners-and-projects/SAF_FIP_Mexico Case Study_2017.pdf
This case study explores the outcomes of the FIP in Mexico, finding that the program has been successful in achieving a mix of objectives including rural development, poverty reduction, improved market access, and increased resilience for forest-dwelling communities and their forests. Growing from past investments and linking with national-level policy, the FIP has built institutional capacity of key organizations like the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR) and other executing agencies, offered workshops and learning exchanges, improved monitoring and information-sharing capabilities, creating new financial tools, and bolstered business management and lo ng-term planning abilities for forests by forest owners.
