Lauren Cooper spent nearly ten years as founder and Program Director for the FCCP, growing the program from the initial Graduate Certificate offering to the established effort it is today. She now contributes to the program as an advisor and research scientist, with a particular focus on program linkages to Latin America. Cooper is in the final stages of completing her PhD in Human Dimensions in Forestry with Michigan State University. She earned a Master of Science in Natural Resource Policy and Planning and a Master of Urban Planning in Land Use and Environmental Planning, both from the University of Michigan. Cooper also holds a BA in History, Colonial Society, Landscape Change and Vulnerable Populations, from Wayne State University. Her favorite outdoor activity is hiking, and her favorite places are Detroit, Lansing, the Andean mountains, all forests, and anywhere her family is. Lauren has two wonderful children and is working to ensure they can speak at least one language fluently other than English.
