We’d like to offer you the opportunity to get outside, explore nature, go for a walk, and inhale some nice, fresh air. So we bring you, Spartan Nature Walks. Our department tree experts are full of fun facts and will guide you throughout Baker Woodlot for some peace of mind.

The walks begin at the EAST entrance to the woodlot on Bogue Street, next to the Life Science building, and take place from 1-2 PM. Note: this is a change to previous walks! We will be starting on the other side of the woodlot.

Sign up here if you would like updates regarding the nature walks.

Fall 2024 Schedule

September 7

Graduate student Parker Hopkins will guide September's walk. Parker will be showing participants how they can use the app iNaturalist/Seek to contribute to science and learn about the outdoors.

October 5

Instructor Jarred Saralecos, a seasoned veteran of Baker Woodlot and no stranger to this walking series, is back to guide October's walk! Explore the woodlot as the seasons change.

November 9

Georgia Peterson will guide November's walk, and it will be a Spartan Forensics Woods Walk! Forest forensics is the art and science of using landscape features to learn more about the history of an area. Nearly every hill, pile of rocks or clearing tells us a story of past events – if we pay attention! Join us on this walk to learn more.

WALKS WILL RESUME IN SPRING 2025
