Policy Engagement
A distinguishing feature of FSG’s work is its deep commitment to policy engagement at country and regional levels. This engagement ranges from researching the process of policy change, to bringing findings from its core research areas to bear on policy issues in a country. It goes beyond this at country level, however, to carry-out “demand-driven” studies requested by governments, and facilitate processes of stakeholder engagement that are so important to generating consensus around needed policy and programmatic changes. Read below for examples of FSG’s approach and for stories about concrete policy change that FSG has facilitated.
At regional and global levels, FSG faculty are regularly sought-out by global, continental, and regional organizations for advice on their programming. At global level, these implementing organizations include the World Food Program, The Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN, The International Fund for Agricultural Development, other UN organizations, The World Bank, and a range of global foundations. At regional level, FSG is increasingly called-upon by The African Development Bank, The New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD), the African Union, the Regional Network of Agricultural Policy Research Institutes, and others.
One of the main FSG projects on policy engagement is the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Food Security Policy.
