Horse Camp: English Riding - Day 2

Chores

As always, the most important thing to start with every day to take care of the space we keep our horses in. Have you ever hear the words; 'clean your room' ? Of course horses don't have hands or opposable thumbs, so we have to clean their room so they can be happy and healthy. This involves taking care of the fields, and the stalls that the horses use daily. After that is was time to ride and everyone was super excited to learn some more skills!

Picture Frames

There was a really fun thing we did at the beginning of the week, where each camper got to take pictures with a horse of their choosing, Either Gris or Sunny, which will then be printed and put into a picture frame for the campers to take home on Friday. The campers painted their picture frames today, so they can have a customized frame to put their photos in.

Paint the Part

Horse challenge! Each camper got a sheet of paper listing the different anatomical parts of a horse, that they had to list and shade in with different colors to figure out which part of the horse is where. It is kind of like the labels game that the campers played the other day, but this time, it is individualized. The campers are pretty amazing anyways, so they finished the game pretty quick!

Breed & Collages

Learning the names of the different breeds, but there's a twist! You must remember them overnight, because your memory will be tested in a game of Horse Jeopardy the next day!

Stick Horse Games!

The Stick Horse Games!  Our Stick Horses are fully formed and ready to be used in the Stick Horse Games, where the campers will compete in barrel racing, and hurdle jumping just as professional riders do, except it is with stick horses! Everyone had great fun with the experience and boy oh boy, there was a lot of laughing happening, and we can't help it, because the stick horses look oh so cute!

Line Dancing

Dance the camp day away! The campers are learning a dance that they will perform by the end of the week on Friday, for our other campers, and their parents! It is a fun way to get the campers to smile and have a great time, to do an activity that lets you just have fun!
