CANR community raises nearly $50,000 on Give Green Day
The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) community came together to raise nearly $50,000 for the 2021 Give Green Day on Mar. 16.
The 2021 Give Green Day was very successful for the CANR community, with nearly $50,000 raised for various projects and programs representing the college, AgBioResearch and MSU Extension. Thanks to all who participated in and helped promote this year’s event held on March 16!
The college had two Give Green Day campaigns, both which exceeded their goals.
CANR Dean’s Strategic Initiatives Fund – $20,658 from 111 donors
Donors gave $20,658 to the Dean’s Strategic Initiatives Fund, exceeding the initial $10,000 goal. We received an additional $2,620 in university matching funds and bonuses, plus a $5,000 match from CANRAA president-elect Valerie Wright totaling more than $23,000 to support our CANR students! These gifts mean we will have the resources available to support our students who have emergency needs, to create opportunities to ensure the college is a leader and at the forefront of change, and to help make us a better and stronger college for generations of Spartans to come.
4-H Learning Experience Sponsorship Fund – $5,910 from 42 donors
Donors gave $5,910 to the 4-H Learning Experience Sponsorship Fund, surpassing the $5,000 goal. With an additional $1,075 in university bonuses and matching funds, a grand total of $6,985 was raised to support 4-H. This fund helps to reduce the cost for Michigan youth to participate in a variety of 4-H learning experiences across the state and nation. These gifts make a difference in the lives of 4-H youth, both today and tomorrow, by helping to grow current and future leaders.
Several additional CANR units also held CrowdPower campaigns on Give Green Day. A majority of these campaigns are still accepting gifts:
- KBS Conservation Legacy Fund Lakeside Camera/Program & Internships Support - $14,130 (141% of $10,000 goal)
- MSU Center for Regional Food Systems Michigan Good Food Fund - $185 (3% of $5,000 goal)
- MSU Horticulture Gardens Liberty Hyde Bailey Sculpture Renovation - $1,480 ($29% of $5,000 goal)
- MSU Tollgate Farm Wheelchair Accessibility Initiative - $4,110 (117% of $3,500 goal)
Give Green Day is Michigan State University’s day of giving – 24 hours to give and make a difference to impact current and future Spartans. Give Green Day began in 2016 and initially coincided with the national day of giving, Giving Tuesday. In 2021, Give Green Day was moved to March.
Thanks to all who contributed and for your continued support and investment in these funds and Michigan State University!
