CANR community ranks fifth for fundraising efforts on MSU Give Green Day
Overall, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) was the fifth largest unit in fundraising efforts and the fourth most successful project across the university during the 2023 Give Green Day.
Overall, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) was the fifth largest unit in fundraising efforts and the fourth most successful project across the university during the 2023 Give Green Day. Over $40,000 was raised for the CANR community from just under 200 donors for various projects and programs representing the college, AgBioResearch and MSU Extension during the effort on March 14.
CANR was represented with two Give Green Day campaigns, both which exceeded their goals.
CANR Whole Student Success Fund – $20,030 from 74 donors
Donors gave $20,030 to the CANR Whole Student Success Fund, including lead gifts from CANR alumni Valerie Wright, Cassaundra Edwards and CANR dean Kelly Millenbah. Thanks to an additional $1,700 in university matching funds and bonuses, more than $21,000 was raised in support of our CANR students. These gifts mean we will have the resources available to support our students who have emergency needs, to create opportunities to ensure the college is a leader and at the forefront of change, and to help make us a better and stronger college for generations of Spartans to come.
4-H Learning Experience Sponsorship Fund – $5,425 from 46 donors
Donors gave $5,425 to the 4-H Learning Experience Sponsorship Fund, surpassing the $5,000 goal. With an additional $1,320 in university bonuses and matching funds, a grand total of $6,744 was raised to support 4-H. This fund helps to reduce the cost for Michigan youth to participate in a variety of 4-H learning experiences across the state and nation. These gifts make a difference in the lives of 4-H youth, both today and tomorrow, by helping to grow current and future leaders.
Several additional CANR units also held CrowdPower campaigns on Give Green Day. These campaigns are still accepting gifts:
- MSU Student Organic Farm - $645 (12% of $5,000 goal)
- Kellogg Bird Sanctuary Bus Scholarships - $1950 (97% of $2,000 goal)
Thanks to all who contributed and for your continued support and investment in these funds and Michigan State University!
Give Green Day began in 2016 coinciding with the global day of giving, Giving Tuesday, just after Thanksgiving. In 2021, MSU moved the campaign to March.
