Celebrate National 4-H Week and stay connected to the clover all year
Once 4-H, always 4-H: reconnect during National 4-H Week, October 4-10.
National 4-H Week is a time to celebrate the experiences, skills and lifelong connections that began with a green four-leaf clover. Whether you were a 4-H member, volunteer, parent, supporter or friend, chances are 4-H helped shape part of your journey.
This year, take a moment to reflect on your favorite 4-H memories and consider ways to celebrate and share the impact of the program. You might post a favorite 4-H photo on social media, thank a volunteer who made a difference in your life, attend a local 4-H event, or share your 4-H story with someone who may not know about the opportunities 4-H provides today's youth.
National 4-H Week is also a great reminder that 4-H isn't just for one season of life. The values, skills and friendships developed through 4-H often stay with us long after our youth membership ends.
That's why Michigan 4-H Alumni & Friends exists: to help people stay connected to the clover wherever they are and however they choose to be involved. Some volunteer with local programs, while others serve as volunteers or mentors, support scholarships, attend events, advocate for youth programs, or simply stay informed about the impact of Michigan 4-H across the state.
Here are just a few reasons that current Michigan 4-H Alumni & Friends have shared about why they joined and their desired next steps for engagement:
- “I would love to help mentor others, encourage them to volunteer with 4-H, or participate in any way that they can. This organization changed my life so I’m happy to help and be a resource wherever I can.”
- “I continue to be an advocate of the 4-H programs on all levels. Wherever I can be of a help or service, I would like to be.”
- “I plan to help current and future youth by supporting local 4-H’ers and their projects by sharing my experiences and life lessons learned along the way.”
- “I plan to sponsor a championship trophy for the horse program in honor of my mother.”
- “I donate money every year to the county program through the CrowdPower campaign, the Tractor Supply Company Paper Clover campaigns, and sponsor individuals when their families need extra support.”
- “To share [my] 4-H impact story!”
There is no single way to be part of the Michigan 4-H community. Whether you have five hours a month, five hours a year, or simply want to stay connected to the program that helped shape your life, there is a place for you.
As we celebrate National 4-H Week, we invite you to reconnect with the clover and join Michigan 4-H Alumni & Friends. Together, we can honor the past, support today's youth, and help ensure future generations continue to learn by doing.
